Do you love winter in Queensland but hate what it does to your skin and hair? Help keep your skin in tip top condition by trying out a few of these ideas..
switch up your cleanser to suit the time of year
A cream based cleanser may be more suited to this time of year as it doesn’t strip the much needed natural oils from your skin. Local Hervey Bay company, Aromacare Naturally have a beautiful Avocado and Citrus Cleanser that deeply cleanses without drying. Better still, all ingredients are 100% natural and plant based.
use a daily hydrating oil
Ere Perez Blue Cypress oil is a beautiful face oil that is infused with awakening blue cypress oil, camellia, jasmine and jojoba to revitalise, balance and radically hydrate tired skin.
exfoliate with a dry body brush
Before you shower (avoid the face and neck) use the brush in gentle circular motions starting from the feet and working your way up. This is excellent for sloughing off those dead, scaly skin cells.
lather up with a nourishing body moisturiser
Try to avoid scalding showers (as divine as these can be in the cold weather) as they dry out your skin. Whilst your skin is still damp, lather up with a nourishing body moisturiser such as MooGoo Natural Skin Milk Udder Cream. Enriched with plant based oils like almond and olive oil, vitamin e, soothing aloe vera and milk protein to help keep the skin supple and elastic.
hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
We don’t often feel as thirsty in winter but it’s equally important to keep our fluid intake up as dehydration will reflect in our skin health. Not a water fan? No worries..try herbal tea, kombucha, lemon or coconut water, clear soups and bone broth. All will help top you up to your daily water intake goal.
don’t forget the sunscreen!
It is tempting to more spend time out in the beautiful Queensland winter sun in the middle of the day but protecting the skin outside is just as important as it is in summer. We have a great range of zinc based sunscreens that provide the perfect UVA and UVB barrier without any added chemical filters. In fact, zinc has actually been shown to help heal and balance skin conditions such as acne, rashes and infections.
eat a range of good quality omega rich fats every day
Choose from nuts, seeds, coconut products (particularly coconut oil), flaxseed and hemp oils and avocados, as well as, oily fish such as sardines, mackerel and salmon and grass fed butter or ghee (our favourite).
