Christmas came to Go Natural Foods on the weekend with our last in-store tasting for 2018. From organic free-range turkey to superfood party platter ideas to traditional handmade Christmas puddings, there was something for everyone to love.
We kept it simple this month. Great tasting food that was guilt free. Well mostly guilt free if, like me, you are addicted to Christmas pudding. (Lucky for me it is a once a year indulgence!!)
As always, we started the tasting with a savoury option and, what better time than now, to showcase the GreenAg Organic Free Range Turkey. We stock this beautifully flavoured turkey all year round and it was great to introduce some products from the GreenAg range. Mark had spent hours in the kitchen the evening before making sure the Turkey Thigh Rolled Roast was cooked to perfection (which it was). We also had the classic turkey sausages (just plain yummy) and the turkey ham. Everyone commented on the tasty smoky flavour of the turkey ham. A great healthy alternative for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week and not just at Christmas.
Love, Green, Fire, Naked. With names like these, of course, Roza’s Gourmet new crackers range would be a hit. Anything vegan and gluten free is generally a hit at our in-store tastings and these crackers were no exception. Full of flavour and crunch, as well as being very colourful, means they are a perfect addition to any Christmas party platter.
We paired the crackers with the vegan Naked Byron Dips range. We have recently expanded the range of dips we offer in-store so it was the perfect time to showcase them to our customers. Vegan, made from fresh local ingredients, these dips are great healthy option for the party table. It was a tie between the Roast Pumpkin and Baba Ganoush with the Beetroot a close second according to our customers on the day. I have to say I am also very partial to their original Hummus as well.
We were very excited about introducing Gratitude Foods “Nourishes” snacks to our customers. This was a brand new product that was launched on the day. These activated almond superfood snacks come in some amazing flavours which sets them apart from similar types of snacks on the market. They come in 3 savoury flavours and 3 sweet flavours. Customers on the tasting day agreed the savoury snacks would be amazing as an extra nutritional boost sprinkled on salads or steamed or roasted vegetables. Such a great idea! The winning flavours were the Curry, Kale and Black Sesame; Raw Cacao, Chia and Chaga and Pomegranate and Blueberry.
It is not Christmas at Go Natural Foods without Mandi’s Kitchen Christmas Pudding. All I have to say about these puddings is they are extremely, extremely delicious. They come in a range of flavours which we have expanded upon this year. Mango and Brandy, one of the new flavours, was very popular as was, the usual Rum & Raisin and Date & Toffee. However, upon tasting, most customer believed they had found their favourite flavour……….until they then tasted the next flavour. Such a great Christmas present for friends or family!
Thank you again to all our suppliers with the generous contributions on the day and to the customers who attended. It is always a pleasure for us to see people get excited about and enjoy all the great food we offer at every tasting.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!! See you in February for our first tasting for 2019.
