Most people would agree that spring is one of the loveliest times of the year in Queensland. Spring is a time of year that brings positivity and signals new beginnings.
The colder days are behind us and there’s a welcoming warmth that brings with it new growth and longer, lighter days. I personally find that when spring rolls around, I’m starting to gain some motivation to take off my cosy winter tracksuit and attempt that morning jog or exercise class that has previously seemed too daunting.
One of the most exciting aspects of spring is the changing availability of fruits and vegetables. As we gradually transition away from those comforting soups and casseroles, we begin to favour the lighter, more energising salads, smoothies and chilled foods.
We are especially blessed in Australia by the abundance of fresh, seasonal produce. Some of which is grown fairly close to home in Queensland. The benefits of eating the trifecta of organic, seasonal and locally grown products are well worth it in terms of flavour, quality and nutritional benefits.
